MUNA Final Workshop, 25 October 2012

25. October 2012

The development of aircraft and other technical products is increasingly based on numerical simulations, demanding for safe estimates of the accuracy of the results. In particular the uncertainties on the simulated conditions and geometries need to be addressed, in order to obtain an optimum design that is robust against such uncertainties.

Within the German national project MUNA, running from 2007 to 2012, altogether 12 Partners from research and industry have collaborated on the Management and Minimization of Uncertainties and Errors in Numerical Aerodynamics. While in the first phase the focus has been on the reduction of numerical errors, in a second phase since 2010 DLR, TU Braunschweig, Stuttgart University and Trier University have developed methods and tools for handling large numbers of stochastic uncertainties.

The results of the second phase will be presented during the Final Workshop on 25 October 2012, covering the following subjects

  • Efficient sampling
  • Data compression
  • Robust design

The detailed program is going to be defined.

Participation is free, but registration by e-mail to edna.aust@dlr.de is requested.
