Communication structure
Each group member has his/her own tasks and competences, but test rig experiments will be carried out in team work. The mid-term goals of each member of the group are discussed with the group leader at least once a year and are written down for documentation. The offices are located closely together. A weekly meeting helps to assess the resent progress, and to discuss and harmonize next steps. In this way, we intend to establish a good and productive communication structure.
Additionally, the group participates in weekly meetings of the Division for Engine Acoustics, as well as in the weekly meetings of the Institut für Strömungsmechanik und Technische Akustik (ISTA - Prof. Paschereit) and in the weekly seminar of the ISTA. The contact to the Institute of Propulsion Technology is maintained by regular visits and meetings. This contact is essential for the exchange of material, data and knowledge.
Promotion of young scientists
For their further professional qualification, the members of the Helmholtz-University Young Investigators Group should attend at least one lecture each semester, a one-week short course each year and beyond participate in DLR’s education program. It is intended to give them the chance to perform talks at national and international conferences and publish in reviewed journals. As an incentive for a successful completion of the PhD thesis a stay abroad of about three months should be offered. If possible, the group leader should not only be the advisor of the PhD- students but also be responsible for awarding them a doctorate. The TUB intends to change its constitution and to give group leaders this right.
