Rayleigh Scattering: high resolution time and space dependent measurement of gas density

Temperatur- und Phasenverlauf über der Brennerplatte

Setup:

A laser beam generates scattered light in the measurement volume. That light is collected by a lens system, spectrally filtered by an iodine cell and finally recorded by an EMCCD or photomultiplier.

Spectral Filtering:

A laser beam is reflected through an iodine cell by a sheet of glass and generates there fluorescence (yellow linie). The absorption lines of iodine can be used to cut the scattering of glas walls out of the measurement signal. Therewith the investigation of technical flows is practicable.

Measurement Example:

The distribution of temperature, oscillation amplitude and phase above a burner plate was measured
