The goal of this project is to provide efficient computational methods on the basis of the time-linearized Navier-Stokes equations. Taking into account geometric features such as shrouds and snubbers is still a challenge for current state-of-the-art CFD tools. In many cases unstructured grids are the only way to mesh the resulting computational domain. The objective of this project is to establish a simulation method that is both highly efficient and accurate.
A solution technique for the time-linearized Navier-Stokes equations on unstructured meshes will be developed by DLR and validated in cooperation with the industrial partners Siemens Energy and MTU Aero Engines.
