Massively Parallel Efficient Simulation based Aero-Engines Development (PERFEKT) The overall goal of the project PERFECT is to extend the simulation capabilities of the project partners in the context of processing complex, large-scale interdisciplinary problems needed in engine development through the use of efficient coupled analysis methods in massively parallel computing environments. In accordance with the overall objective of the project new approaches, levels of detail and model complexity that all go far current industrial standards will be investigated in the project work-packages.
The Numerical Methods department is involved in the work package "Time-resolved flow simulations". The aim is to perform unsteady calculations of multistage compressor configurations based on both full annulus and reduced order models. To this end, computational configurations of up to 1 Billion computational cells are to be investigated.
