At the Institute of Propulsion Technology of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) the Numerical Method Department carries out leading edge research in the field of propulsion and energy transformation systems for the aviation and energy industry. The main objective of the Department’s activities is the development of high-fidelity, robust and fast numerical tools for the integrated simulation of turbo-machinery components.
To this avail, the Numerical Combustion Group was founded in 2009 to extend the multi-physics modeling capabilities of the in-house CFD solver TRACE, in particular through the development and application of advanced combustion models for RANS/LES simulations in close cooperation with industrial and academic partners.
