STS-134: Roll over and 'hoist and mate'

04. March 2011, 14.20, Marco Trovatello, 0 Comment/s
With this new set of images that Thilo recently sent, we start to tie in with Space Shuttle Mission STS-134 which will carry the European-built Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) to the International Space Station. The mission won't launch before 19 April 2011, but we already have some great images.

The two image sets below show Endeavour's roll over from Orbiter Processing Facility 2 to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. After this follows what engineers call 'hoist and mate': once the Shuttle has arrived at VAB, it is erected and attached to the external tank and solid rocket boosters.
