Jan Wörner

Johann-Dietrich Wörner was born in Kassel in 1954. He has been Chairman of the Executive Board of the German Aerospace Center since 1 March 2007.

Wörner studied civil engineering at the Technische Universität Berlin and the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt, from where he graduated in 1985. In 1982, as part of his studies, he spent two years in Japan, investigating earthquake safety. Until 1990 Wörner worked for the consulting civil engineers König und Heunisch. In 1990 he returned to Darmstadt University, where he was appointed to a professorship in Civil Engineering and took over as Head of the Testing and Research Institute. Before being elected President of the Technische Universität Darmstadt in 1995, he held the position of Dean of the Civil Engineering Faculty.

Happy Holidays! Kooperation und Zusammenarbeit mit den Vereinigten Staaten

Kurz vor Weihnachten lädt das DLR-Büro in Washington D.C. zu einem Empfang unter dem Motto "Happy Holidays!" ein. Verschiedene US-amerikanische Partner aus der Luft- und Raumfahrt werden eingeladen, um in lockerer Atmosphäre das vergangene Jahr Revue passieren zu lassen und zugleich Pläne für die Zukunft zu schmieden. In diesem Jahr stand der Empfang für mich allerdings am Ende einer sehr interessanten Dienstreise, die mich quer durch die USA führte und mit vielen unserer dortigen Partner zusammenbrachte. read more

Happy Holidays! Cooperation with partners in the United States

Shortly before Christmas, the DLR office in Washington DC invites our partners to attend a Holiday reception. This way, various DLR's various US aerospace sector partners are invited to take a look back at the past year in a convivial atmosphere, and also to make plans for the future. This year, the reception occurred at the end of what proved to be a fascinating business trip, one which took me right across the US and gave me the opportunity to meet many of our partners there. read more
