Data and Information Management
The Data Information and Management System DIMS of DLR provides comprehensive functionality for the management of large volumes of heterogeneous digital data with spatial and temporal reference.
The central features of DIMS are

DIMS is successfully in operations at DFD for earth observation products. The open system architecture moreover enables supporting new product types and applications.
DIMS is a scalable and powerful infrastructure for the management of digital data products, either as independent installation or using the DIMS facility operated at DLR.
The Data Information and Management System DIMS is designed as a modular, component based system. The "Product Library" has thereby central importance serving processing inputs and outputs and ensuring product consistency. Based on this repository, "Ordering Control" organises the workflows for order processing up to the delivery via "Online/Offline Delivery", online via internet or offline on media (CD, DVD, tape).
Interface components take over the communication to users, processing systems, external systems and operators. The design stands out for high configuration capabilities and is therefor easily adoptable to the production structures and performance requirements of new applications.
