The opera “Dialogues des carmélites” will take you back into dark times during the French Revolution of the 1790’s. The opus is the most famous opera of Francis Poulenc (1899 – 1963) and attracts by its impressionistic but still tonal music creating a dense and striking atmosphere. The opera is sung in French with German supertitles. An English synopsis is available online.

The all-day excursion will start with a trip to the DLR site of Lampoldshausen. This DLR site was founded in 1959 by space pioneer Professor Eugen Sänger to act as a test site for liquid rocket engines. Today it is home to all research activities and experiments relating to rocket test beds. The ongoing research work focuses on fundamental research into the combustion processes in liquid rocket engines and air-breathing engines for future space transport systems.

A guided tour at the famous Baroque Castle of Ludwigsburg is scheduled for the afternoon. The residential palace is one of Europe's most impressive and extensive Baroque complexes and served as a residence for the Dukes and Kings of Württemberg. In the evening the excursion will be concluded with a typical local cuisine dinner.
