DLR webcast: Space law and its application to the ROSAT mission

In this DLR webcast, Bernhard Schmidt-Tedd explains the legal aspects of the ROSAT mission. Space law relates to the non-territorial area of outer space, a region not governed by any national legislation, but instead governed by the United Nations Treaties and Principles on Outer Space. In any specific space mission – and this also applies to ROSAT – the countries involved in the mission agree upon who is responsible for registration of the mission and therefore (liability-related) legally responsible for that mission.

Bernhard Schmidt-Tedd is Head of Legal and Business Support of the DLR Space Administration office in Bonn and is primarily responsible for matters regarding space law.
