IFAR, the International Forum for Aviation Research, is the world's only aviation research establishment network. It connects 21 institutions worldwide and operates on a voluntary, non-binding basis.

IFAR aims to realise the following activities:

• connecting the aviation research community worldwide
• serving as a venue for information exchange and communication
• developing a shared understanding of key challenges in aviation research
• developing of the IFAR Framework Document outlining global research objectives and technological opportunities
• issuing IFAR views and recommendations and give advice on aviation topics
• identifying of new opportunities for co-operation between members

IFAR was founded in 2010 by the initiative of DLR. The work of the IFAR secretariat is supported by DLR and the European Commission within the project IFAR (International Forum for Aviation Research Support Action).
