Your mission:

This work is part of the RCAS (Railway Collision Avoidance System) project. RCAS for trains is similar to the aeronautic Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) for planes and the maritime Automatic Identification System (AIS) for ships. RCAS is an overlay system which informs the train driver about the actual traffic situation and warns in advance if there is a safety critical situation. Therefore, a train broadcasts data by wireless ad-hoc communications about its position, motion and other data like vehicle dimensions and braking distance to all other trains in the area. Every train processes the received data with the own data and analyses the current traffic situation. Finally the traffic situation and warnings will be displayed to the train driver.

The key tasks include

Development of a GUI (graphical user interface) for the train driver
Design of an efficient and informative user interface
Programming of the GUI in Java
