Positioning and timing services provided by a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), for example by the U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS), have already given rise for various applications almost in all fields of our everyday life. Furthermore, significant performance improvements which are planned to be achieved by the coming European GNSS Galileo and the future modernized GPS open room for so called safety-of-life GNSS applications with extremely high requirement to accuracy and reliability.
