Your mission:

The department Navigation and Guidance Control has fullfilled various projects within the past years to develop and verify modern and classical procedures of guidance and control systems for optimal entry,  analyzation of  landing approach and landing.

For EDL application we would employ an intern for the following work packages:

  • Improvement the code for optimization tool
  • Development of NLP Interface for existing OCP solvers

The task of this work is to develop and test NLP interfaces for DLR´s SPARTAN (Shefex-3 Pseudospectral Algorithm for Reentry Trajectory Analysis) tool in order to generate optimal trajectories. Strong programming skills with Matlab are needed. Moreover, a strong background in space systems is desired, with a particular emphasis in guidance. The job position is located in Bremen, Germany at DLR’s Institute of Space Systems.

Your qualifications:

  • Master student enrolled in a university course looking for an internship in aerospace engineering
  • advanced knowledge of Matlab and Simulink and mathematical programming is needed
  • advanced knowledge of Guidance and Control is an asset
  • interest in numerical optimization is desired
  • fluent in written and spoken English
