DLR, Solar Research is active in developing processes to utilise energy from concentrated solar radiation in the form of Solar Fuels and other chemical commodities. High temperature endothermal reactions are powered by solar heat collected at a solar tower. To couple solar energy effectively to the respective reactions converting raw materials like water, CO2, natural gas, waste products or other into valuable products, specific components and processes need to be designed and evaluated. The task of this postdoctoral position is to develop and to technoeconomically evaluate processes for solar thermo-chemical production of commodities like hydrogen, syngas, methanol, ammonia, sulfur, aluminium or cement.
The related projects comprise the following tasks:
The results of the modelling and of the techno-economic studies will be used to adjust development directions of hardware and component development.
