Type of employment

"Cutting-edge research requires excellent minds – particularly more females – at all levels. Launch your mission with us and send in your application now!" Prof. Pascale Ehrenfreund - Chair of the DLR Executive Board

Your mission:

The Institute for System Architectures in Aeronautics is modelling aviation as a system of systems starting from the aircraft and reaching to the overall air transportation system as well as the details of production of components. Research activities are aiming at new system-architectures and large-scale optimization-processes for novel aircraft-configurations and development-scenarios.

Within a young team you do research for establishing the future paradigm for design and optimization of products and systems. While using this paradigm you are going to develop time- and cost-efficient innovative aircraft-systems while capturing the overall life-cycle of the aircraft and its systems by application of comprehensive multidisciplinary, digital networks. You should be interested in knowledge-based-engineering (KBE) technologies, as well as model-based-systems-engineering (MBSE) methodology in order to speed up design- and optimization-studies of complex systems considering the requirements of design, production and certification. Together we are aiming at expanding the existing standards for aircraft design and optimization towards a knowledge-based, multidisciplinary framework which can be applied by multi-national design-teams.

Your qualifications:

  • Master´s degree in a technical discipline such as aerospace, electronics, mechanical engineering
  • preferably specialized in knowledge-based-engineering (KBE) and multi-disciplinary-optimization (MDO)
  • experience in MDO system implementation and industrial experience are an advantage
  • very good English language skills

Your benefits:

Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives. Our human resources policy puts great value on a healthy work-life balance as well as equal opportunities for men and women. Individuals with disabilities will be given preferential consideration in the event their qualifications are equivalent to those of other candidates.
