RCAS also compares the position of a train against a digital map in order to include geographical as well as route topology aspects in its situational analysis work, enhancing its ability to identify potentially dangerous situations. The monitor on board the test train meant that it was possible at all times to view precisely where the Integral regional train and the RailDriVE train substitute were located relative to one another.
