The soil through which the Mars rover Spirit is currently driving is much softer and deeper than the experts thought. This photo was taken by the 'Hazard Identification Camera' on 26 April 2009. Experts are currently discussing how they can prevent the Mars rover from sinking deeper and deeper into the soil.
