During a joint strategy dialogue being held in Tokyo on 21 September 2009, Dr Keiji Tachikawa, President of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Ageny (JAXA), and Prof. Dr Johann-Dietrich Wörner, Chairman of the Executive Board of the German Aerospace Center DLR, signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) establishing cooperation between the two organisations on satellite-supported disaster monitoring.
