This image from the European Earth observation satellite ENVISAT is a combination of images taken on 24 and 27 April 2009. This combination of high-resolution TerraSAR-X images and the more frequent, lower-resolution ENVISAT images have given rise to a substantial increase in knowledge, which provides unique insights into the chronological sequence of shelf ice breakaways.
