The Moon sculpture shows a quasi-realistic image of the Earth's satellite. DLR's Institute for Planetary Research (Institut für Planetenforschung) in Berlin provided the image data. The covering of the Moon balloon is made of coated polyamide and feels like canvas to the touch.
