The DLR research aircraft Falcon 20E and its crew of six: DLR scientists Dr Oliver Reitebuch, Monika Scheibe and Dr Bernadette Weinzierl, flight engineer Alexander Wolf and DLR pilots Steffen Gemsa and Roland Welser. On 19 April 2010 the crew conducted a measurement flight that lasted several hours. The team examined the height, expanse and composition of the volcanic cloud ejected by the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull.
