Columns of numerals appear side by side on the giant screens in Control Room 2 at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). No fewer than 25 000 parameters, ranging from battery temperature through to antenna noise ratio, are sent to Earth by the satellites. More than 1400 defined command sequences are used to control the flight of TanDEM-X and TerraSAR-X. When TanDEM-X lifts off on 21 June, the control room will be filled with team members.
