This diagram shows the construction of the SHEFEX II canard control system and its individual components. Four internal actuators control the fins, or canards. The red-tinted cells at the rear (right-hand side of diagram) of the unit, which are somewhat similar in appearance to sticks of dynamite, are the energy storage units for the actuators.
