Columbus video - Highlights of the STS-122 mission

Experience our short 50-minute film featuring the highlights of the STS-122 mission: the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis exactly two months ago, the docking with the International Space Station on 9 February 2008, connecting the Columbus laboratory two days later as well as the three EVAs (one featuring German astronaut Hans Schlegel). We see inside the new European research lab for the first time and then the return of the shuttle on 20 February.

The construction of the ISS as an interactive animation

The International Space Station (ISS) is the largest technology project of all time: an outpost of humanity in space. The European Columbus module is the newest section of the space station. Even with Columbus attached, the ISS is still not finished with yet further elements due to be added. Internet link-up: Live discussion between Chancellor Merkel and ESA astronauts Schlegel and Eyharts

To mark the European Columbus research laboratory's arrival at the International Space Station, an internet conference takes place today, 14 February 2008, between 15:00 and 16:30 CET and entitled "Columbus - Europe's place in the Universe". From 15:55, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will talk live with the astronauts on board the ISS. The ESA astronauts LĂ©opold Eyharts and Hans Schlegel will report about the Columbus Mission.
