ILA may break visitor records

The German Aerospace Center (DLR) had a stand at the Berlin International Air Show (ILA 2008) displaying many exhibits from its various fields of research. Trade representatives and the general public alike flocked to the stand in the Raumfahrthalle (Spaceflight Hall) and to the research fleet on the tarmac.

Research for the future – shaping the future

The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is constantly developing its core areas of aviation and space exploration. In addition, potentials for synergy are increasingly realised. "This should enable us to make even more socially relevant contributions than before, for instance in the environmental field", said Professor Johan-Dietrich Wörner, Chairman of the DLR Executive Board. Wörner went on to say: "Moreover, it is vital to position DLR nationally as well as internationally as a leading aerospace research institution - and also as an institution which represents the interests of the Federal Republic of Germany on the international stage, especially in the field of space exploration."

Fuel Cell Demonstrator - A320 ATRA

Together with its partner, Airbus, the Institute for Technical Thermodynamics of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has equipped the DLR aircraft carrier A320 ATRA with a Michelin fuel cell system. Prof. Johann-Dietrich Wörner, Chairman of DLR Executive Board commented: "Fuel cell technology provides an improvement in fuel efficiency for aircraft, minimising environmental pollution and increasing comfort and safety."

DLR at ILA Berlin 2008

During ILA 2008, DLR has many exciting exhibits. This image gallery features highlights from the exhibits - for example the Airbus A320 ATRA, the unmanned helicopter system ARTIS and the two-stage altitude research rocket, SHEFEX II. The exhibits themselves are location during the show at the DLR booth in Hall 9 and on the exhibition grounds in front of Hall 8 and 9.

Shaping the future – DLR at ILA 2008 in Berlin

The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) will present its latest research and development achievements at the International Aerospace Exhibition ILA 2008 (Internationale Luft- und Raumfahrtausstellung). The ILA is one of the largest European trade fairs for commercial air transport, space, defence and security, aviation equipment, and engine technology. The exhibition is open only to official attendees until Thursday 29 May. On Friday to Sunday is also open to the general public.
