The map of the Haitian capital, prepared using current satellite data, shows the extent of the destruction of Port-au-Prince following the disaster on 12 January 2010. The grid allows for damage analysis using various categories. The gradations have been given different colours: light yellow (0 to 10 percent destroyed), yellow (10 to 40 percent destroyed) and orange (more than 40 percent destroyed). The city centre suffered considerable destruction, many buildings and roads collapsed during the quake. In more than 1,500 discrete objects, DLR scientists clearly detected completely destroyed buildings.
