KOMPSAT-3 and KOMPSAT 3A

For the two Earth observation satellites Kompsat-3 (launched in 2011) and Kompsat-3A (launched in 2013), DLR-OS was commissioned by the South Korean space agency KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) to design and assemble a complete focal plane unit (FPA). The FPA consists of 2 panchromatic and 4 multispectral focal plane modules (FPM).

This image from the Kompsat3a satellite shows the artificial "Palm Island" in Dubai. The high resolution of 0.5 meters GSD (Ground Sampling Distance) is comparable to the images of the WorldView satellites.
