At the 13th Ilan Ramon International Space Conference in Tel Aviv on 29 Jan. 2018 the chair of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Prof. Pascale Ehrenfreund, had a discussion with the deputy director of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), P. Kunhikrishnan; the president of the Italian Space Agency ASI (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana), Prof. Roberto Battiston; the director of NASA’s Ames Research Center, Dr. Eugene Tu; and the deputy director of the Russian Space Organisation ROSCOSMOS, Sergey Saveliev. The discussion was moderated by Avi Blasberger, director of the Israel Space Agency (ISA).
"Remote Sensing helps us to better understand the Earth System in all its dimensions", emphasised the DLR executive board chairman. Space activities play both a direct and an indirect role in all the goals set in the 2030 United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development. "Germany and DLR have satellite technologies available for earth observation."
