The Earth Observation Center (EOC), the new home of the German Remote Sensing Data Center and the Remote Sensing Technology Institute, was formally opened in July 2010 at DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen. Now that the extension work in the second part of the EOC building is coming to an end, the rest of the staff and facilities of the EOC in Oberpfaffenhofen will soon be accommodated there.
One year after the opening, we would like to resume the tradition of a public forum to exchange opinions, thoughts and ideas within the German remote sensing community. Some of you may recall the DFD User Seminars which were suspended for a few years after 20 successful get-togethers.
Under the title “EOC Symposium” we will again be organizing a forum on current developments at DLR and partner organizations in Germany, Europe and further abroad. It will take place this year from October 11 to12 at the EOC in Oberpfaffenhofen, and the program will include presentations by DLR staff as well as by invited speakers on specific topics.
In order to stimulate discussion and participation there will be some innovations in the content and style of the lecture sections. On the first evening we will conclude the day by sharing an evening meal and good conversations in a relaxed atmosphere.
