Training and Instruction

German Remote Sensing Data Center, Oberpfaffenhofen

Technical progress in remote sensing and earth observation arising from innovative sensors and analytic methodologies widen the options for new applications and lead to new information products. Up-to-date and customized training and advanced instruction courses make it possible to reliably assess and exploit these new developments.

The DFD GeoRisks and Civil Security department develops and offers professional-level basic and advanced instruction as well as specialized information and training courses. Customized teaching modules and workshops on using remote sensing data products and services can be arranged.

The instruction and training portfolio includes such topics as:

• Information sessions for decision makers
• One- to several-day introductory and survey courses
• Practical training courses lasting several days or weeks
• Participating in and designing exercises on using earth observation information for disaster management
• International training courses and workshops
• Symposia and colloquia for international partner organizations.

In addition, instruction of the next generation of scientists is carried out together with universities by providing guidance to trainees, diploma students and doctoral candidates.
