Weather images from the NOAA satellite series are received by DFD in Oberpfaffenhofen 6 times per day. The satellite orbits are different, so the images cover different ground swathes. Day-time images are produces from the optical bands of the AVHRR sensor, whereas the night-time images are composed of the infrared bands.
