Web portals
The Science Communication and Visualization department is the editorial office for both the Internet and Intranet portals of the Earth Observation Center (EOC) of the institutes DFD and MF (www.dlr.de/eoc).
Its public outreach team has responsibility for the layout and implementation of new Web portals for projects, and, by agreement, also for their editorial maintenance.
For over 20 Web portals within the EOC, the team looks after the interface to DLR’s central IT management and the central enterprise communication unit, VO-PR, to ensure compliance with DLR’s corporate identity standards.
The public presentation of institutes and projects via Internet portals has clear advantages compared to classical outreach publications like folders and flyers, such as rapid update cycles and provision of supplementary information through downloads and links.
Print media
Supplementary to Web-based public relations, the team is engaged in the conception and production of institute brochures and project flyers, and other material for conferences and exhibitions.
Press and public relations
The team is the user helpdesk for both institutes, handling requests from the public by phone, fax or email. Presentations for visitor groups are organized as well as the management of DFD open house events.
