Independent Research Studies and Diploma Theses

We offer the possibility to the interested student to prepare an independent research paper or a diploma thesis with us. The tasks are derived from recent research projects and activities.
Currently we offer the following topics to be worked on with us:

Optimization of Electrode Structures for Piezoceramic Transducers

With the help of a finite element (FE) program different electrode structures of laminar piezoceramic transducers are to be modeled. The established electric field in the piezoceramic material is of special interest with the goal to optimized the efficiency of such transducers regarding the active strain, blocking force and supply voltage.

Investigation of the Actuation Properties of Carbon Nanotubes

Carbon Nanotubes can be employed in combination with electrolytes as electromechanical transducers. The mechanisms governing this actuation effect are to be studied experimentally in a present testing device. Thereby, the influence of different electrolytes and nano-tube structures on the active strain is to be emphasized.
