Maintenance Shop
Our Maintenance Shop is an LBA-approved “Luftfahrttechnischer Betrieb” (Aeronautical Workshop). It assures technical support for the DLR aircrafts stationed in Brunswick. This includes maintenance and repair of aircrafts, installation of special equipment and technical approval of modifications by LBA-certified inspectors. In addition it is responsible for technical preparation and support of flight campaigns all over the world.
Technical facilities of the maintenance shop consist of 2 heated hangars (600 an 1680 m²), a fully equipped workshop, a store with about 25000 spare parts and an engine test stand for RR M45H engine. There are also a test bench for hydraulic components, various test and adjustment devices, and of course ground support equipment like aircraft tractors, ground power units etc.
Staff:
- 1 maintenance team leader (with inspector’s license)
- 5 aircraft mechanics (2 with inspector’s license)
- 1 mechanic for the workshop
One additional inspector is available from the Inspection and Quality Control Group.
The team is experienced in operation in arctic regions by numerous flight campaigns of the Alfred-Wegener-Institut (i.e. Greenland and Antarctic)
