The projectmanagement is aimed as a "Single Point of Contact" for scientific users and coordinates among other things the cronologie of project related tasks between the flight department and design organization
The group Flight Operation and Acquisition is responsible for the preparation and the execution of aircraft campaigns. This task includes administrative, financial and logistical aspects as well as technical preparation and realisation of the research flights.
Sensor and Data Team
Since 1999 the Sensor and Data Team of the Flight Department Oberpfaffenhofen is responsible for the scientific standard instrumentation onboard the research aircraft as well as for data acquisition and processing of aircraft data.
Aeronautical Engineers and Mechanics assist the scientists in installing new instruments on the DLR research aircraft. Computer workplaces with CAD and FEM capability as well as a workshop are available to design and machine the necessary interfaces and prepare the certification.
The Flight Department Oberpfaffenhofen is an ‘Approved Aeronautical Workshop’ (LTB) and authorized to perform maintenance and repairs on the airframe, powerplant and the avionics of all research aircraft. Our qualified and authorized personal is on site to support the aircraft operation at remote locations.
