Head of Engineering  Braunschweig: Stefan Kommallein
Head of Engineering  Oberpfaffenhofen: Thomas Wernsdorfer

These two departments, located in Braunschweig and Oberpfaffenhofen together with the Office of Airworthiness and Quality Management add up to the Main Design Organisation. They were created to achieve a constant professional crew for frequently asked topics as structure, stability, electrical issues, cabin safety etc.. They belong disciplinary to the Engineering and offer experience as design engineer or as engineer at the Office of Airworthiness. Thereby efficiency and flexibility of the departments is long-term ensured.

The departments have the following tasks:

• Work schedule of the design and professional approve of modifications
• Preparation of the quantity structure
• Generation of an approval and qualification program
• Management of the modifications design
• Construction of engineering drawings, parts lists, specification sheets and other reference documentation
• Technical steering and support of engineering staff in the institutes
• Coordination of design engineering and approvals
• Verification management to fulfil the engineering regulations
• Technical approval and signing off of verifications
• Coordination with project management and Office of Airworthiness

To the department Engineering and Office of Airworthiness belongs the Aircraft Chief Engineer (ACE) with his team. They manage exclusively modifications for the Airbus A320 D-ATRA and are responsible for:

• The continuously documentedconfiguration of the aircraft
• The verification of airworthiness for campaigns
• The continued Airworthiness

The overall responsibility lies with the ACE.
