Traffic Monitor

Traffic Monitor

The German Aerospace Center designed, developed and implemented under contract of Fraport AG, the Frankfurt/Main airport operator, a system for displaying, recording and analyzing capacity related parameters. The Traffic Monitor for capacity and traffic flow is in continous operation since 2002 at the Frankfurt airport.

The Traffic Monitor is a decision support tool concerning the question "how well does the airport Frankfurt operate?". This system assists experimental validation of advantages or effects of new methods or technologies by long-term studies.

Input data is obtained from Fraport-owned databases, recorded by the Traffic Monitor and then is real-time statistically analyzed and displayed by a graphical representation on several working positions.

Various display types are pre-configured but modifications or enhancements are easy to apply. By analysis of single flights a very detailed conclusion of demand, flow and delay or taxi-time can be achieved.

RAND Europe's algorithms allow the prediction of estimated punctuality and capacity of the air traffic in consideration of various other parameters like weather for up to 18 hours in the future.
