Operational Concepts

Operational Concept of an "A-SMGCS system with electronic  flight strips and integrated Departure Manager" in validation tests.
Modern automated functions in cockpits and control centres as well as air/ground data link are requiring advanced procedures for operational utilisation. They have to ensure efficient interaction at various levels of communication and cooperation in flight guidance and air traffic control,

  • at the individual level between human and machine:
between pilot and cockpit systems/between controller and CWP systems,
  • at the intra-team level between members of teams or crews:
between pilot and first officer/between controllers of adjacent sectors,
  • at the inter-team level between teams working in different places:
between cockpit crews, air traffic control and airport operators.

The comprehensive implementation of new operational concepts has to go beyond individual human-machine cooperation and must aim at an improved cooperation between all team players. The challenges are to improve communication by managing an optimal information flow ("Shared Information") and to develop efficient procedures for reaching commonly accepted decisions and their implementation ("Collaborative Decision Making").

We are offering consulting and support in designing concepts and procedures for the operational utilisation of advanced automated functions in cockpits and control centres, including validation trials with real time simulations and field tests.
