The Institute of Air Transport and Airport Research explores the development of the air transport sector at different geographic levels, from worldwide to regional, national and the individual airport level. Factors influencing airport and air transport development, such as capacity constraints and environmental policy measures are modeled, in order to obtain insights into current and possible future developments. These findings will help to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of technical and policy measures.
Our activities in the field of aviation research aim at the long-term interpretation of strategic measures, either through changes in infrastructure, or regulatory measures involving the aviation system as a whole.
In airport research we focus on measures related to the tactical and operational area of collaborative airport management, through its interaction with passengers, and airports’ roles in linking land- and airside in the intermodal transport system.
