Air transport research investigates the possible future developments of air transport and analyses its capabilities and impacts. The main focus here is on the development of an environmental friendly air traffic system and air traffic economy. The following core themes are considered:

• Performace of analyses, prognoses and scenarios with regard to the development of air transport depending on political, technical and infra-structural parameters
• Analysis as well as conception and assessment of regulatory measures under consideration of environment and economy
• Integrated modelling of the air transport system
