In the project InfraDem – Infrastructures and Demographic development - funded by the Helmholtz community, the Research Centre Juelich, The Rostock Centre for Demographic Research and DLR are cooperating in order to study the effects of the demographic change on the infrastructure demand.
Quantifications of the demand trend have been performed for the sectors energy and ground transportation until the year 2030 by exemplifying the regions Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In addition to the research of air transport the DLR-department FW was in charge of identifying the sustainability indicators mandatory for the overall evaluation.
