Monthly evaluation of German air transport statistics performed by DLR.
One of the traditional and important data bases to be applied for air transport studies is the official German air transport statistic. Among others it serves for identification of the German air transport demand and it is analysed by FW from different points of view. It forms the basis for numerous internal models. Due to the high interest from laymen and experts, the most important outcomes are published monthly. These include the topics passengers, flights and freight. Total transport figures as well as aggregate flows between German airports and destination regions are shown. A short overview shows annual changes in the traffic figures.
Studies for mobility providers like e.g. Deutsche Bahn AG are an example for the application of air transport statistic based analysis. On their behalf FW designs air transport matrices covering the German domestic and cross-border traffic to allow for the identification of air transport flows on individual routes, which are potentially competing with other modes of long haul transport.
