Virtual Institute - Airport Planing and Management
Goal of the Virtual Institute is the development and verification of capacity functions for runways at airports which incorporate traffic quality assessment in addition to traffic volume as it is done with the "Level-of'Service" method (LoS) for road traffic.
Air Transport Report
Data and comments on the German and worldwide air transport. The Air Transport Report informs on current developments in air transport. Facts on mainly the German, but also the European and global air transport are collected and assessed in the well-proven way.
Air Transport as Class in the School Lab
The DLR School Lab has been established in order to introduce students to the research topics at DLR and to raise their general interest in DLR through experiments. Furthermore, it purposefully serves the continuing education of the teachers. Here, FW is involved in teaching the class air transport, which identifies the main actors and their cooperation at airports and in the controlled airspace.
Data Management for the Modelling of Air Transport Demand
In order to be able to model, forecast and evaluate the development of air transport on various spatial scales, as precise information as possible is required on the description of this development.
Observatory of the Air Transport Market
For three years (2007 to 2009), DLR has been assigned the task of Official Monitoring Institution of the European Aviation industry by the European Commission (Head Office Energy and Transport). The annual reports give an overview on the development of the entire air transport industry in Europe and have become a vital basis of information for decision makers in politics and economy.
Air Transport Statistics
Monthly evaluation of German air transport statistics performed by DLR. One of the traditional and important data bases to be applied for air transport studies is the official German air transport statistic. Among others it serves for identification of the German air transport demand and it is analysed by FW from different points of view.
Low Cost Monitor
Since a few years, the Low Cost Carrier (LCC) market is part of the German air transport market. The Low Cost Carrier Monitor, jointly issued by ADV and DLR, informs on significant features of the Low Cost Carrier traffic and current developments in this market segment two times a year. Topics covered include e.g. the number and relative importance of Low Cost Carriers, their supply including air fares and passenger demand of Low Cost services.
Global Aviation Monitor
The strong drop in air transport worldwide seems to have slowed down for now. The negative growth rates approached almost zero over the past few months. A postitive growth is possible by the end of 2009. This is one of the important conclusions of the new air transport study Global Aviation Monitor (GAM) performed by the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum fuer Luft- und Raumfahrt, DLR).
