The Mawas rainforest reservation in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, is a 377.000 hectare area of well-preserved rainforest with high biodiversity. This lowland peat rainforest not only serves as CO2 reservoir but also as an active CO2 sink which makes it even more precious for the world climate. It is also one of the worldwide last great habitats of wild living Orang-Utans. A population of approx. 3000 animals lives here.
