Reception Forum Adlershof: Where history meets the future

Forum Adlershof

Monday,April 8, 2013, 18.00 (meeting point BBAW)

The area known today as the “City of Science, Technology and Media”,

was once the Johannisthal airbase. Germany's first motorized aircraft took off from here at the beginning of the 20th century. Albatros, Fokker, Rumpler and Wright made Adlershof-Johannisthal famous. In 1912 the “German Experimental Institute for Aviation” (Deutsche Versuchsanstalt für Luftfahrt – DVL) made Adlershof its headquarter. Laboratories, motor test beds, wind tunnels and hangars were erected in the 20s and 30s and are historical landmarks today.

One of those historical landmarks is the “Forum Adlershof”, the first laboratory and factory building of the DVL, which was erected 1913 and is located in close proximity to the “Aerodynamic Park”. The two historically protected buildings have been built up into a modern event and visitor center, that are surrounded by the modern science institutes of the Humboldt-University of Berlin. The Forum Adlershof is centrally situated in the heart of Germany’s largest science and technology park.

This reception is included in the registration fee.
