In order to find out whether electronic or electrical systems and components function satisfactorily in a certain electromagnetic environment, various conditions can be simulated in the EMC test laboratory of the DLR Institute of Space Systems in Bremen and the emission of electromagnetic interference can be determined with the help of emission measurements.
The EMC laboratory of the Institute of Space Systems examines the electromagnetic compatibility of electronic or electrical systems and components for space applications to determine whether they function in a specific electromagnetic environment without emitting unacceptable electromagnetic interference.
The constant and flexible availability of the EMC laboratory, as well as the close integration with other facilities of the Institute of Space Systems - such as thermal laboratory, mechanical/dynamic laboratory, electronics laboratory and integration hall - are particularly useful for the development of hardware within the DLR, as integration, qualification and verification remain within one institute. A wide variety of test systems are also available to accompany new developments over short distances.
