ReFEx
The Reusability Flight Experiment (ReFEx) is a technology demonstrator for future winged reusable stages. The model shows ReFEx in its re-entry configuration after being released from its launch vehicle
CALLISTO
CALLISTO is a reusable VTVL stage demonstrator. CALLISTO is jointly operated by DLR, JAXA and CNES designed, built and tested. Notable characteristics - compared to conventional consumable launchers – are CALLISTO's landing system and its aerodynamic control surfaces.
Future cryogenic measuring technology
Experiments for cryogenic fuel handling require a wide range of instruments with sensors in order to capture all the relevant physical quantities and effects. The aim is to obtain a detailed and empirical insight into temperature distribution, phase transitions (liquid-gas), fill levels and free liquid surfaces, as well as sloshing. This also enables a comparison to be made with computer simulations (CFD, Computational Fluid Dynamics) and for the computer code used to be validated.
Research association upper stage
The safety of autonomous European space travel is a fundamental element of German, and European, policy. Access to high-performance and sustainable launch vehicles is vital.
CFD-Tools
The prediction of the propellant behaviour in tank systems over the entire duration of a mission is of vital importance for the design of cryogenic tank systems for upper stages.
