In the framework of the Next Generation Uplink (NGU) working group of the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS), DLR Institute of Communications and Navigation designed class of non-binary low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. The proposed non-binary LDPC codes outperform the binary LDPC codes under consideration for NGU telecommand by more than 1.5 dB. Due to their large gains, the codes proposed by DLR will be further investigated within the group and will be included as reference in the NGU Green Book.
